Antiquenos bring iSchools project to Cebu

Distance was no hindrance for Antique team to realize the computerization project in Cebu.

When no state institution in Cebu was available to implement the iSchools project in the province, instructors of the Polytechnic State College of Antique (PSCA) accepted the challenge.

Headed by Prof. Nelly Mistio, dean of the Computer Studies of PSCA, the team visited five national high schools there last August 7 - 11, 2007 to orient school heads, PTCA officers, municipal and city officials, teachers, students, and community members about the project and to rally their support.

The following were the recipient schools:

· Talaga National High School (Argao)

· Ocaña National High School (Carcar)

· Consolacion National High School (Consolacion)

· Lawaan National High School (Danao City)

· Beatriz Durano Memorial National High School (Danao City)

Among the activities undertaken by the team were delivery of computers and other IT equipment, conduct of capability trainings, and monitoring.

iSchools is a project undertaken by the Commission on Information and Communications Technology in its effort to integrate the use of ICT in education and community building.
